Job Title: Inventory Control Team Lead

Department: Materials

Reports to: Operations Manager

Salary Grade: Associate 7

AAP Classification: First/Mid Level Officials and Managers

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

Direct and oversee all of the inventory and material control activities at the facilities with the goal of achieving minimal shortages to meet established service levels. This position includes intercompany shipping, receiving, warehouse management, inventory control and data management.

Essential duties and responsibilities

This job description does not imply that these are the only duties performed. Employees occupying this position will be required to follow any other related instructions and to perform any other job related duties requested by their supervisor. Furthermore, this does not establish a contract for employment and is subject to change at the discretion of the employer.

  • Achieve and maintain inventory accuracy
  • Direct process audits to determine cause of material variances
  • Create formal documentation of inventory and material control processes and procedures
  • Accurate and complete stock and non stock receiving of incoming receipts
  • Timely put away and letdown of materials in racking and bulk areas
  • Timely and accurate inventory transaction entry and integrity
  • Determine root causes of parts shortages and implement permanent fixes.
  • Review of all excess and no demand inventory with appropriate dispositioning
  • Resolve quality issues with purchased materials and deploy corrective process
  • Improvements in conjunction with quality assurance team.
  • Work closely with sales coordinators to obtain daily shipment goals and coordinate shipping of finished goods
  • Maintain knowledge of external and internal supply chain.
  • Experience with all transactions and process related to stockroom functions; including but not limited to kitting, cycle count, adjustments, receipts of finished and component jobs, and shipping
  • Accomplish special projects and other assignments/duties as required by leadership team related to inventory projects
  • Build and supervisor a team of associates preforming all stockroom functions; including but not limited to kitting, cycle count, adjustments, receipts of finished and component jobs, and shipping
  • Develops an effective team through by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to delegate and prioritize work tasks
  • Ability to assess staffing requirements
  • Champion and drive continuous improvement through communication and coaching associates to drive efficiency in warehouse functions
  • This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Operations Management or Supply Chain Management of 2-3 years or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment, specifically experience in inventory control.
  • Knowledge of ERP system as it pertains to material and inventory control and transactions.

TEAM LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages employees in the stockroom / shipping areas. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving programs.

Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos.

Possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement, common fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Possess the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands *

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and or arms to pull handles and push buttons and reach objects. Requirements may also include climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching or crawling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
